Fire growth rate
Definition
Rate at which the heat release rate of a fire increases during the growth phase.
Fire growth rate describes the rate at which the heat release rate (HRR) of a fire increases during the early stages of fire development. In fire safety engineering, simplified fire growth models such as the t² fire are commonly used to represent different growth regimes, typically classified as slow, medium, fast and ultra-fast.
