The following terms govern access to and use of the StudioFSE® computational framework, its tools, algorithms, and associated content. StudioFSE® is a set of engineering computation utilities developed to support fire safety analysis workflows. It is not an engineering consultancy service. By accessing any tool or page of this framework, the user acknowledges and accepts the conditions set out below.

1. Nature of the Framework

StudioFSE® is a computational framework that provides algorithms, numerical tools, and modelling utilities for fire safety engineering analysis. It is developed and maintained by Luca Iannantuoni, Ph.D., Fire Safety Engineer, and operates as an independent computational environment designed to support analytical exploration, engineering calculations, and technical evaluation of fire safety engineering scenarios.

The framework makes available parametric fire curve generators, engineering calculators, and modelling support tools intended to assist technical analysis. StudioFSE® produces computational outputs based exclusively on user-defined input parameters and simplified analytical or numerical models.

The framework does not independently evaluate, certify, approve, or validate any engineering design, fire safety strategy, regulatory submission, or technical project.

2. No Engineering Consultancy

StudioFSE® does not provide engineering consultancy services. The tools, outputs, and content available through this framework do not constitute professional advice, engineering opinions, design certification, or regulatory compliance assessment of any kind.

No output generated by StudioFSE® tools should be interpreted as a professional recommendation, technical validation, or confirmation of compliance with applicable standards, codes, or regulatory requirements — including, without limitation, Eurocodes, UNI standards, NFPA codes, ISO standards, or any national fire safety regulation. The presence of references to technical literature or standards within the framework does not imply endorsement by, or conformity assessment against, the relevant standards bodies.

3. Intended Users

The tools of this framework are designed for use by engineers, researchers, and technically qualified professionals with the competence required to interpret and critically evaluate computational outputs in the context of fire safety engineering.

Access to certain tools may be open to other users, including students and technically interested non-specialists, for informational or educational purposes. In all cases, access to the framework does not confer any professional qualification, and any use of outputs beyond informational purposes — including for design, safety assessment, or regulatory submissions — remains the sole responsibility of the professionally qualified user who adopts them.

4. Independent Verification

All computational outputs produced by StudioFSE® tools must be independently evaluated, critically assessed, and verified by a qualified professional before being used in any design activity, safety analysis, regulatory submission, or engineering decision.

The framework is intended to support, not substitute, the exercise of independent professional judgement. The responsibility for the interpretation, validation, and application of any output rests exclusively with the qualified professional who adopts it. No output should be used as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions.

5. Use at Own Risk

The tools and content of this framework are provided “as is” and “as available”, without representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied. StudioFSE® makes no warranty as to:

  • the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the computational outputs;
  • the suitability of any tool or output for a specific project, scenario, or design purpose;
  • the absence of errors, interruptions, or changes to the tools or their underlying algorithms;
  • the conformity of results with any applicable technical standard or regulation.

The user assumes full responsibility for the selection of tools, the definition of input parameters, and the use made of the resulting outputs.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, StudioFSE® and its author shall not be liable for any damage, loss, or claim of any kind arising from or related to the use of, or reliance on, the framework or its outputs, including without limitation:

  • errors in design or engineering decisions based on computational outputs;
  • failure to comply with applicable technical standards or regulatory requirements;
  • indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages;
  • economic loss, loss of revenue, or loss of professional opportunity;
  • damage to third parties resulting from the use of outputs in design or advisory contexts.

In any event, the aggregate liability of StudioFSE® shall not exceed the amount paid by the user for access to the relevant tool in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where access is provided free of charge, no financial liability shall arise.

7. Intellectual Property

StudioFSE® is a registered trademark. The computational algorithms, source code, interface design, documentation, and all associated content are the intellectual property of Luca Iannantuoni, Ph.D., and are protected under applicable Italian and European copyright, trademark, and software protection law.

Reproduction, redistribution, reverse engineering, or derivative use of any component of this framework — in whole or in part, in any form or medium — is prohibited without the prior written authorisation of the rights holder. Permitted use is limited to the interactive access granted through this platform under the conditions set out herein.

8. Modifications and Updates

The tools, algorithms, parameters, and content of the StudioFSE® framework may be modified, updated, expanded, or removed at any time, without prior notice and without incurring any obligation to maintain compatibility with previous versions or outputs.

Users are responsible for verifying the version of any tool used and for reassessing the validity of outputs when tools are updated. No modification to the framework gives rise to any right to compensation or continuation of access on previous terms.

9. Acceptance of Terms

Use of this website, its content, or any of its tools constitutes acceptance of these Terms of Use in their entirety. Users who do not accept these conditions must refrain from accessing the framework.

For certain tools, access is conditional on the explicit confirmation of a checkbox acceptance statement presented immediately prior to use. This mechanism is intended to ensure informed and deliberate engagement with the computational outputs of the framework. The checkbox record is retained as documentation of the user’s acceptance at the time of access.

10. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are governed by the law of the Italian Republic. Any dispute arising from or related to the interpretation, validity, or enforcement of these Terms, or from the use of the framework and its tools, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Milan.

Users who qualify as consumers under Italian consumer protection law (D.Lgs. 206/2005) retain any mandatory rights conferred by applicable consumer law, which these Terms do not purport to exclude.

11. Knowledge Content Disclaimer

The knowledge content published on the platform — including the Glossary, Technical Notes, and Knowledge Atlas — is provided for informational and technical reference purposes only.

Such content does not constitute engineering consultancy, professional advice, technical validation, or regulatory compliance certification. All limitations and exclusions of liability set out in these Terms of Use remain fully applicable.
